The Bulldogs Friendly Schools Program (BFS) forms an integral part of our of Community Club strategy through its commitment and support of schools in the western region.

in conjunction with AFL Victoria and utilising the Sporting Schools Government Funding Program in 2016, Practical sessions focussing on developing motor skills utilising Australian Rules Football games and activities are tailored and delivered in the schools by AFL Game Development Officers who adapt the sessions to suit the needs of the school and ability of the participants.

Generally run over 4-6 sessions, the program communicates the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle in a respectful and inclusive setting, demonstrated through fun and interactive activities that are designed to engage young people from all backgrounds.

Embedded in the program are five core values;

  • Respect
  • Leadership
  • Harmony
  • Teamwork
  • Fair Play

The BFS Program is now in its tenth year and is continuing to strengthen and grow as we reach out to more schools in the west.

In 2015, the program also provided up to 80 Victoria University Pre-Service Teachers with the opportunity to further enhance their professional development through a quality community based partnership, with PST’s assisting with the delivery of the sessions.

All Bulldogs Friendly Schools are given the opportunity to receive a range of additional benefits including;

  • Bulldogs player and mascot appearances
  • Free tickets to Bulldogs matches
  • Whitten Oval Tours
  • Inflatable roadshow visit
  • Entry in to football gala days at VU Whitten Oval
  • Much more
