Fiji Program

In 2008 the Western Bulldogs ventured into a land unknown for AFL by travelling to Fiji with the aim to find exciting young recruits to our club. We have recently signed two young Fijian athletes onto the international scholarship scheme.

Inoke Ratu, 19, and Solomoni Loki, 16, were both spotted by the Club during the trials the club held in Fijian towns Labasa and Suva in October.

The players will now be offered a salary of $1,000 for this year, and will be in weekly contact with Simon Dalrymple.

The Bulldogs will have the opportunity to relocate the players to Melbourne at the end of the year and sign them as international rookies on a bigger salary, or they can keep the players in Fiji on a similar agreement for another 12 months.

Ratu and Loki will join the Bulldogs in January to train at Whitten Oval for two weeks. The trip will be first international journey out of Fiji.
