Rookie utility Lin Jong has been elevated to the senior list and will make his first AFL appearance for the Club since Round 23 2012.

After an injury interrupted 2013, Jong has been rewarded for his fine pre-season form and replaces Daniel Pearce who was today placed on the long term injury list.

Captain Ryan Griffen’s return will add some polish to the midfield, and forward Liam Jones has forced himself into the side after strong showings in his previous two VFL practice matches.

Assistant Coach Shannon Grant said Griffen’s inclusion in particular will give his teammates some added confidence against North Melbourne this Sunday.

“Any time your captain comes back into the side, it does give the side a lift,” Grant said.

“He’s [Griffen] a tremendous leader and to be able to have him out on the ground, I’m sure the boys will grow an extra leg because of it.”

The 25-man squad was without defender Brett Goodes and last week’s emergency and first year player Mitch Honeychurch who will both play in the VFL this week.
