One change has been made to the Western Bulldogs side as they prepare to face the Gold Coast Suns in Cairns, with defender Sam Darley earning a recall into the senior side.

Playing his first game in Bulldogs colours in the round 15 win against Melbourne, the former GWS Giants recruit gathered 14 disposals and four rebound 50s in an encouraging first outing.

After being named among the Footscray Bulldogs best in the VFL against Geelong last week the 21-year-old has forced his way back into the senior side.

“Sammy Darley has been playing some really good footy at VFL level, he came in a couple of weeks ago but unfortunately was dropped,” Assistant Coach Rohan Smith said.

“[He] will come into the mix this week.”

Strong VFL form has also been rewarded for Tom Campbell and Jason Johannisen who have been named as emergencies this week.

“Tom over the last couple of weeks has been outstanding in the VFL, played mainly in the ruck, but also taking some really big contested marks down the line,” he said.

“You look at the run from Jason Johannisen so he might come into the mix as well.”

Daniel Giansiracusa rounds out the emergencies for this weekend’s game, after spending the past two weeks on the sidelines through suspension.

Defender Shaun Higgins has been omitted from the side that lost to Geelong on Sunday twilight.
