Josh Kennedy’s streak of 127 consecutive games could begin and end with the Western Bulldogs after a recent injury has the Sydney midfielder doubtful  for Sunday’s clash.

Having not missed a game since round 14 2009 against the Bulldogs, the 26-year-old has built a reputation as one of the most durable performers in the AFL, but a hamstring injury might stop that remarkable run.

As Sunday’s clash against the Bulldogs approaches, the Swans have not ruled the midfield star out of the squad and said his selection would be based around training later this week.

“Josh Kennedy just tightened up in that first quarter and we didn’t want to chance him any longer,” Swans Physiotherapist Matt Cameron told SwansTV yesterday.

“He’s got a little bit of fluid right on the outside of his lower hamstring muscle on his non-kicking leg.

“We’ll just see how he goes.

“He looks pretty good even today and we’ll look to run him later this week.

“We’ll work out if that’s tomorrow or Thursday, and we’ll see how he is by Friday.”

Post-match Swans Senior Coach John Longmire said a no risk approach would be taken with finals on the horizon.

“He’s pulled up well today and feels really good but we’ll manage him conservatively this week and see how he goes,” Longmire said.

“His hamstring is tight, he’s got a little bit of fluid on the outside of his hamstring but there’s no tear in there, so that’s a really good sign.

“It would be fair to say we’re not going to put him at risk this week.

“If he’s not any good at the back end of the week, he won’t play.

“If he doesn’t play this week, it will only be one week.”
