North Melbourne’s Andrew Swallow may have topped the AFL Coaches’ Association voting this week but Marcus Bontempelli and Ryan Griffen were also lauded for their contributions.

Young Bontempelli continued to make a statement in his debut year on Sunday, finding 23 touches at 87% efficiency, eight tackles, four inside 50s and two goals.

His performance caught the eye of the two coaches, with him receiving seven votes in the AFL CA Most Valuable Player awards.

Captain Ryan Griffen also turned heads in his 200th game, amassing 30 touches, six clearances and eight inside 50s in a trademark display.

Scott Thompson (three), Ben Cunnington (two) and Michael Firrito (two) rounded out the coaches’ votes for the round 21 clash.
