When the Sydney Swans transition into attack they are very hard to stop, Matthew Boyd says, after the Bulldogs were beaten by 63 points on Sunday.

“It felt like they were the best side in it – [it was a] really tough game, I thought we hung in there for a good period of the game but their ability to use the ball and hurt you on turnover that’s the big difference,” Boyd said.

“They score on turnover and they get it in really quick and it’s hard to stop.”

The top of the table Sydney have built a reputation of being among the best defensively but Boyd said they were equally as capable of hurting teams from quick ball movement and run.

“There pressure was really good… not a lot of time and space with the ball, we sort of got run down and hunted down a fair bit throughout the day,” he said.

“Just shows the level that you have to get to, to be a good side and they are probably the benchmark in terms of pressure and then on the flipside using the ball the other way.”

Despite the result, the former Bulldogs captain said there were a number of lessons to come out of Sunday’s game that will help make the Club a better side long term.

“We will take a fair bit out of the review and try and improve on today’s performance and try to have a good finish to the season next week,” he said.
