A ladder-leading Sydney outfit were too strong on Sunday but Senior Coach Brendan McCartney says the post-match review will provide some valuable insights for his developing team.

The Bulldogs fell to Sydney by 63 points and McCartney said the experience will leave a lasting impression on the young team.

“It tends to resonate with you and then as a coaching group we might show one or two of those things to them – not over the top – and nothing beats playing,” McCartney said.

“When they show an improved behaviour or deal with that part of the game better we show that too.

“Nothing beats training and playing, we are holding together ok physically, are we playing as well as we’d like? No.”

The Bulldogs won the second term but the difference between the two sides most obvious in Sydney’s ability to capitalise on most attacking opportunities.

“[On Sunday] Sydney were just too good for us at times and there were times we didn’t take the opportunities we created and should have,” he said.
