Young Bulldog Jackson Macrae is enjoying the opportunity to get to know his older teammates during the Club’s pre-season training camp on the Sunshine Coast.

Last season Macrae finished runner-up in the Club’s Sutton Medal in just his second year, impressing with his ability to accumulate possessions, averaging 27 per game.

However it’s the off-field activities that Macrae is relishing the most as the playing group spends nine days away in Queensland.

“It (camp) really helps us bond with the older boys and get to know them outside of footy so that’s been really great for us,” Macrae said of the training camp.

“It’s always good to mix it up, get out of the routine.”

Macrae was quick to acknowledge that although the group was spending time away, the hard work had not stopped for the team during their stay in the sunshine state.

“It’s been a good step up, obviously with the weather and the humidity it’s a bit more difficult.

“All the players have adapted pretty well and are all pretty excited.”

Macrae acknowledged that as the season approached, it was inevitable that standards would rise.

“Obviously all the boys are pushing for a round one spot and the NAB Challenge is coming up soon so it’s going to get pretty competitive.”
