Easton Wood has become the fifth Western Bulldogs player in three weeks to sign a new contract, with the athletic defender recommitting until the end of 2018.

The 25-year-old joins Jordan Roughead, Luke Dahlhaus, Jack Macrae and Jake Stringer who have all put pen to paper in recent weeks.

Wood was set to become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end, but instead agreed to a new three-year deal to stay at the Kennel.

Bulldogs List Manager Jason McCartney said the re-signing was a significant one for the Club.

“Easton is a valued part of our defensive group so we are delighted to have him recommit to the Club.

“He has enjoyed some consistent form over the past 12 months and we look forward to that continuing, and him taking his game to the next level.”

After a consistent 2014, playing a career-best 18 games, Wood found his place in the Dogs’ side as a versatile defender, playing both tall and small.

Wood was recruited to the Bulldogs from Geelong Grammar with the 43rd pick in the 2007 NAB AFL National Draft, he debuted in round 19 2009.
