The Western Bulldogs will be primed for a big battle when they take on Greater Western Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

The Dogs suffered a six-point loss to the Giants in round 23 of the 2014 season, and midfielder Mitch Wallis says his side will be looking to avenge that loss.

“We’ve had a few games throughout their history where it’s been rough and tough, so it’s going to be no different this week,” said Wallis, speaking with Crocmedia on Monday night.

“It wasn’t a great way to finish last year… we’re looking to redeem ourselves this weekend.”

The Giants have enjoyed an impressive start to the season, with a 6-2 record, including a ten-point win over Hawthorn.

The club has seen rapid development from its’ talented young list, one which Wallis says the Bulldogs are wary of.

“It’s always a great game against them, they’ve got a great young side.

“(They’ve) had a really good start to the year… and we’re playing against a few of our old teammates so that will be an interesting battle but I’m really looking forward to it.”

Although suffering a surprise loss to Melbourne on Sunday, Wallis says his side still have confidence in their ability, after a generally positive start to the year, and will take that belief into the match against the Giants.

“We’ve got plenty of belief amongst the playing group.

“We know that when we play to our best or just below our best, it’s good enough to beat most of the teams, and we’ve proven that over the eight rounds that we’ve played.”
