The Western Bulldogs are proud supporters of the AFL Indigenous Round which celebrates the contribution of our country’s Indigenous cultures to our club, community and game.

In 2015 we have joined the AFL community in celebrating this important round, by supporting the RECOGNISE Campaign – which advocates for the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Australian Constitution.

The Recognise Campaign also aims to ensure there is no place for discrimination in Australia’s founding document.

In support of the Recognise Campaign – players will wear ‘R’ on Indigenous designed jumpers to mark Indigenous Round.

Western Bulldogs player, Brett Goodes has lent his support to the Recognise Campaign – featuring in a TVC that encourages footy fans to support the initiative.

The Western Bulldogs playing group also met with Mark Yettica-Paulson from Recognise this week to hear about Recognise and its partnership with the AFL.

Mr Yetticca-Paulson encouraged players to think about the role they could play in supporting the recognition of Australia’s Indigenous cultures in the Constitution.

“I hope that as you prepare for your next game, you also think about how you can fly the flag to get proper recognition for my people.

“We hope to crack 250,000 people this week, that’s a quarter of million Australians who have taken the effort to sign up and say ‘we want to support this’. So its beginning a ground swell of Australians who are really supporting the removal of racism and the putting in of proper recognition (in the Constitution),” Mr Yetticca-Paulson said.
