A final quarter blitz from Port Adelaide didn’t reflect the Western Bulldogs overall performance on Saturday night, according to midfielder Koby Stevens.

A six-goal to one final term saw the Power run home with a 38-point win, but Stevens says his side’s effort was worthy of more credit.

“We went over there and for three quarters we really challenged them,” said Stevens, speaking with Crocmedia on Tuesday night.

“We hunted the footy really well and put them under a lot of pressure, we probably just dropped away in that last quarter with our spread.”

Consistency the final piece: Luke Beveridge's post-match press conference.

The Dogs were able to match it with the Power for three quarters, only ten points down at the final break but Stevens said it was “little things” that lead to the loss.

“It probably wasn’t just one thing but probably one of the main factors was they did get us on the outside in the last quarter.

“We hunt the footy so well that we probably just didn’t hunt it with enough method.”

Stevens acknowledged his side’s inconsistency in recent weeks but said the Dogs were looking forward to coming back after the bye and focusing on that area.

“We’re conscious of that, it’s been happening a little bit this year so we’ll go into the bye recognising that and hoping to get better at it once we get back.

“That’s the good thing about the bye, we’ve got a week to freshen up and get in to the next game.”

Stevens was one of the Dogs’ best on the night, finishing with 22 touches, three marks, 11 tackles and a goal.
