A team-first mindset will be the key to a Footscray win on Saturday afternoon, according to Bulldogs coach Ashley Hansen.

A win against the 13th-placed Coburg would hold the Dogs’ spot in the top four but Hansen said they wouldn’t underestimate their lesser-ranked opponent.

“We certainly won’t be underestimating Coburg, especially after our match last year at Piranha Park where it was really tough.

“I’ve worked with Peter German previously and know that his team will be fit, disciplined and give a great contest.

“We’ll need to be focused, diligent and team-orientated on Saturday to walk away successful.”

The Dogs will welcome back senior pair Will Minson and Mitch Honeychurch from minor injuries, with both expected to have an immediate influence.

Hansen said Minson’s experience on match day would help guide his young side.

“Will is always a welcome addition, it’s a great opportunity to get a large quantity of game time in, both up forward and in the ruck where he has his biggest influence.

“We certainly expect some great leadership from him on Saturday and to be a role model for many of our younger players.”

Honeychurch returns for his first game in four weeks, with the 20-year-old expected to bring ferocious attack on the ball.

“Mitch is just so reliable for his effort and intensity, so we know we will get both of these from him at the contest to both win his own football or help others around him… It’s exciting to have the ‘badger’ back.”
