Western Bulldogs defender Jordan Roughead says there is no chance of complacency when his side takes on Brisbane in the final round of the home and away season this weekend.

The Dogs travel to Brisbane to take on the 18th-placed Lions, with a finals spot assured, but Roughead says his side will be focused on maintaining momentum.

“We’ll look at this week the same as we would any other week.

“We want to pick a team that’s going to go up to Brisbane and win and carry that momentum into the finals.

“I think it would be really disappointing to not perform on the weekend… we obviously had a disappointing second half against West Coast (in round 21) but to rebound and play so well against North (round 22), it would be disappointing to lose that momentum.”

The Bulldogs vice-captain returned to the senior side in round 22, after a stint on the sidelines with a foot injury and making his way back through the VFL.

Roughead said he was pleased to be back in the side, given their run of form in the back end of the season.

“Body’s good, it was great to be back out there, it’s pretty hard when you’re sitting on the sidelines, it was great to get back out there and contribute to a win.

“I pulled up really well so go up to Brisbane and hopefully we can get another win.”

Roughead has been tried in a number of roles this year, under Luke Beveridge’s mantra of versatility.

Starting the year down back and spending time in the ruck, Roughead said he has no preference on position, and is relishing being back in the side.

“I just go about it and try and play my role, obviously the role changes, full back, ruck, a little bit of time at full forward.

“I just talk to the assistant coaches… and just work out what their focuses are for me that week and go out there and try and perform.

“I just love representing the Bulldogs so I don’t care what part of the ground I’m playing in.”
