Season in short:

In just his third year of senior football, Jack Macrae established himself as one of the most prominent ball-winner’s in the competition.

The 21-year-old averaged 26 disposals, four marks and five tackles in 2015.

After a slower start to the year, Macrae spent rounds seven and eight with Footscray, before working his way back into the side and not missing another match for the rest of the year.

He developed a more rounded game in the latter stage of the year, working on his inside game and spending time forward, all while consistently racking up high possessions.

His most damaging performance came in round 15 against the Suns, collecting 33 disposals, 10 marks, four tackles and one goal.

Macrae signed a contract extension in April, keeping him at the Club until at least the end of 2018.

Stat that mattered:

Macrae dropped below 20 disposals on only three occasions in 2015.

What they said:

“With injuries at the start of the year, it meant I had to play a little bit more of an inside mid role. I learned a lot from that and grew a lot as a player and taking that into next season and pre-season… that inside mid role that started to feel more comfortable, especially in the second half of the year…” – Jack Macrae, September 2015

“Jacko learned a lot about himself this year. He probably got more attention from the outside, maybe got ran with a little bit early. I saw an opportunity for Jacko to go inside and start developing his inside craft and you saw him attend a lot more centre bounces, spend more time as a forward, I think Jacko walks away from this year as a more rounded player than this time last year.” – Steven King (Western Bulldogs Assistant Coach), September 2015
