Veteran Western Bulldogs defender Dale Morris says his side continue to strive for improvement, despite a promising 2015 season.

While the Bulldogs enjoyed what many considered an unexpected year in 2015, Morris says there is no room for complacency this pre-season.

“Last year I guess we came out of the blocks and surprised a few teams and a few supporters and everyone out there in the footy community.

“There’s going to be a lot more attention on us so we can’t rest on our laurels and sit back and wait for it to happen.

“We need to be out there and pushing forward and finding our edge and finding ways to improve.

“It was a really good year last year and obviously like every other team we’re looking to build on that.”

Addressing media at the Club’s training camp on the Sunshine Coast, Morris believes that “edge” can come from any number of things, including the camp.

“Every team, every club is looking for an edge and we’re looking for ours and this is part of that journey.”

The Bulldogs have been rewarded with a favourable start to the season, with 10 of the Club’s first 11 games in Melbourne.

Despite that, Morris says the draw will become irrelevant if they can’t capitalise on the opportunity.

“I guess we have been rewarded with the draw early (in the year), it’s nice to get some Melbourne games in a row.

“We’re looking forward to that but we need to capitalise on that.

“It’s ok to get all of these home games and Melbourne games but you’ve got to do something with them, so that’s what we’re aiming to do.”
