Jake Stringer’s brilliant right-foot snap in Saturday night’s 53-point win over Brisbane has earned him a round five Coates Hire AFL Goal of the Year nomination.

The explosive All Australian forward earned his first nomination of the new football year, with his unbelievable goal.

With Bailey Dale’s kick inside 50m going to ground, Stringer pounced on the loose football, crashing through three Brisbane Lions opponents to break free of congestion, swing onto his right boot, and launch the ball goalward on the turn, back over his left shoulder.

The ball sailed straight over the goal umpires head, and brought the Etihad Stadium crowd to its feet,and earned the Stringer one of the three round five AFL Goal of the Year nominations.

Also nominated in the round five award were St Kilda’s Jack Sinclair and Hawthorn’s Jack Gunston.
