Key forward Tom Boyd and defender Joel Hamling kicked three goals apiece in the Bulldogs' thrilling 10-point win. 

Boyd kicked a goal in each of the first three quarters and took several contested grabs in attack, while Hamling was swung forward in the second half to great effect.

Midfielders Lukas Webb and Clay Smith were named the Bulldogs' best courtesy of their dominance around the stoppages and ability to drift forward and register a goal each.

Trailing by 30 points at the last break, Footscray piled on eight goals to two in the final term to claim the stirring win.

Webb gave his side the lead for the first time at the 27-minute mark of the final quarter with a long left-foot goal beyond 50m.
