BROWNLOW medallist John Schultz will present the premiership cup to Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge and stand-in skipper Easton Wood should the club break through to win its first flag since 1954.

Schultz, who was part of the last Bulldogs team to make the Grand Final in 1961, has been named by the AFL to carry out the prestigious honour.

Peter Bedford, the 1970 Brownlow medallist from South Melbourne, will carry out that duty should the Sydney Swans triumph at the MCG on Saturday.

Schultz, who turns 78 on Wednesday, played 188 games for Footscray between 1958 and 1968.

An inaugural member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, Schultz is a five-time best and fairest winner (1960, 1962, 1964, 1965 and 1966) at the Bulldogs to complement the Brownlow he won in 1960.

Bedford, 69, played 178 games for South Melbourne between 1968-76 and was named as ruck rover in the club's team of the century.

He won the Swans’ best and fairest award in 1969, 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1975.

Bedford also played eight games for Carlton in 1977-78.
