Western Bulldogs AFLW coach Paul Groves won’t be reassessing his expectations after Saturday night’s win over the Fremantle Dockers.

The Dockers flew into Melbourne on the weekend predicted to be one of competitions’ stronger sides but went down to the Bulldogs by 32-points at Victoria University Whitten Oval before a 10,000 strong crowd.

For Groves, what's important is making the most of a run of four matches at home to start the season.

“The expectations are for us to be competitive and play good, hard, solid football, he said post-match.

“If that results in wins and we have fun doing it, then happy days for us. We've got a very solid list and we've got a lot of depth.

"It was a pretty big match-up just to kick start it and get that four points locked away. It's cut-throat because if you lose two games, you're probably going to miss the final. It's essential to win your home games here at VU Whitten Oval."

Nicole Callinan, speaking with the Herald Sun agreed.

“Every game you have got to treat it like a final,’’ Callinan said.

“Because it’s not a long season and every game you’ve basically got to give it all the whole game. Nothing to lose.

“It will go so quick, so you’ve just got to do everything right.’’

Next up for the Dogs are the Adelaide Crows who sit in second place on the AFLW ladder after a six-goal win over Greater Western Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

The Crows looked imposing on Saturday and the challenge they present isn’t lost on Callinan, but she’ll be ready.

“With Adelaide  coming off a really good win, I think we will have to be on our best for Friday night, she said.

“They are obviously very happy with their result and we’ll gear up for what they’ve got to bring.’’
