In 120 seasons of V/AFL football, 12,486 players are known to have taken to the field. Of those more than twelve thousand, only six have had the surname Bailey (the most recent being Hawthorn’s Max Bailey, who played 43 games between 2006 and 2013) and none of those has played for the Bulldogs.

Since 2015, however, the name Bailey has become somewhat synonymous with the team of the mighty West, with Bailey Dale debuting for the Bulldogs in that season, and Bailey Williams arriving at the Kennel via the 2015 AFL Draft to make his debut in round eight last year.

To date, Dale and Williams remain the only two players with a first name of Bailey have ever played AFL football.

But the Bulldogs' "monopoly" on Baileys is not only confined to the men's team. Of the more than 200 women to have so far represented the eight AFLW clubs, only one has had a first name of Bailey and only one has had a surname of Bailey.

And - you guessed it - they are both Western Bulldogs. Bailey Hunt has played in all five of the Bulldogs' AFLW matches this season, while her partner in crime on the backline, Laura Bailey, has played in four of five games so far.

Adding all the facts together, the logical conclusion appears to be that if you're a Bailey, you belong with the Bulldogs!
