Veteran journalist Mike Sheahan rounded out his list of top 50 AFL players on SEN this week, with Bulldog Marcus Bontempelli named in the top three.

Only 2016 Brownlow Medallist Patrick Dangerfield and Sydney superstar Lance Franklin were ranked ahead of Bontempelli by Sheahan as he unveiled his top 10 on the SEN Breakfast program. Sheahan's annual pre-season top-50 player prognostications have been the subject of debate for more than two decades.

Bontempelli, an All-Australian in 2016, became the fourth Western Bulldogs player to be included in Sheahan's top 50, after Dale Morris, Easton Wood and Liam Picken were all announced as selections last week.

Veteran defender Morris was placed at number 25, with vice-captain Wood ranked 32nd and Picken included at number 46.

With four players selected, the Western Bulldogs (along with Sydney and Collingwood) have more players in the top 50 than any other side except GWS, who had eight.
