With the Club confirming this week that forward Jake Stringer will miss time with a hamstring injury, coach Luke Beveridge has opened the door for Travis Cloke to be recalled for the Dogs’ clash with the Suns on Saturday.

Cloke has averaged 17 disposals, five marks and two goals for Footscray over the past fortnight, and Beveridge said his form warrants consideration for the trip north.

“It’s a bit early in the week to be talking selection, but he played pretty well though.  That’s two back for him.  He’ll definitely be considered," he told media on Tuesday.

Cloke hasn’t played at AFL level since Round 12 as he’s managed mental health issues, but Beveridge said he’d be ready to play if called upon, both physically and mentally.

“He didn’t miss much training so I don’t think that’s a big concern, it’s more about the process of feeling good in mind and body.

“He appears to have enjoyed the last two weeks, so we’ll work through that at match committee level.”

Sharp-shooter Tory Dickson is another potential replacement for Stringer, after some encouraging form in the state league.

Dickson has returns of two and three goals over the past two weeks.

“It was a better performance down at Geelong from Tory, so he’ll be considered.

“Obviously the one injury… there’s a couple of sore boys we think will get through but if we have to make a couple of changes Tory will definitely be considered.”

The Dogs take on Gold Coast at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns on Saturday, 22 July.
