The Suns have made three forced changes headlined by the loss of co-captain Steven May and Gary Ablett with the pair succumbing to hamstring injuries. Midfielder Jarryd Lyons is also out of the clash with the Dogs due to an ankle injury. Midfielders Jesse Lonergan and Brayden Fiorini have both been included alongside debutant Jack Scrimshaw.

In defence the Suns will have a different look due to the absence of May whose intercept marking ability will be missed. The backline has an array of dashing half backs that provide drive led by Jarrod Harbrow and Adam Saad. Both Harbrow and Saad are willing to take the game on, with their speed and penetrating kicking an area to watch.

Pearce Hanley may split his time between the wing and across half back. Hanley is another damaging option that breaks the lines and cannot be afforded time and space.

The midfield will look to capitalise on the impact of ruckman Jarrod Witts whose first season as a Sun has been vital to their impact around stoppages. Midfielder David Swallow will have to take on an increased role on the inside due to the loss of Ablett. Swallow will be a key to gaining ascendancy in the middle and is ably supported by Touk Miller around the contest.

Midfielder Aaron Hall is another that provides plenty of impact on the outside and often drives the Suns inside 50. Hall may split his time between the midfield and half forward and when given space is a threat forward of centre.

In the forward line fellow co-captain Tom Lynch is the standout with his contested marking and ability to hit the scoreboard a feature. Lynch is one of the better key forwards in the completion and forms a formidable combination alongside Peter Wright. The form of Wright in his third season has been a positive with his aerial impact and ability to spend bursts in the ruck giving the side flexibility.

Jack Martin has settled into a role inside 50 with his speed and skill making him a threat for opposition defences. Alongside Martin has been first year forward Ben Ainsworth whose impact has been immediate with his pressure and goal sense making him one to watch.
