Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley stepped into the role of Community Foundation Ambassador earlier this year, allowing him to work alongside the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation participants and staff.

Suffering a shoulder injury during the 2017 season, Dunkley used his recovery time to consider how he could assist the Club, off the field.

“When I did get injured, I started thinking some more about my off-field stuff, so the Community Foundation was something that was relevant to me and what I wanted to do,” said Dunkley.

“It initially was the Leadership Project that caught my eye, but then I worked a fair bit with the team and looked across all four areas of the foundation. They all really took my eye.”

During his first year with the Club in 2016, Dunkley saw the tremendous effect the Community Foundation had upon so many individuals and hoped to get involved.

“For me as a player, to give back to the community a little bit more is really important,” he said.

“I spend one day a week upstairs with the community team, at the moment I’m still learning what happens in the four areas, but I have been out with the team, going to a few different events to get a better understanding of how it all works.”

The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation are a registered charity, aimed at helping our people reach their full potential, and ensuring they are accepted regardless of their gender, race or faith.
