The Western Bulldogs have decided to challenge the suspension handed to captain Katie Brennan at the AFL tribunal, in a bid to have her available for the Grand Final.

Brennan was cited for rough conduct against Demon Harriet Cordner, and because it was her second reprimand of the season, she was offered a one-match ban with an early guilty plea.

If the bid is unsuccessful, Brennan will miss the Grand Final against Brisbane on Saturday, and will also be unavailable for Round 1 of the 2019 season.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Melbourne Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head.

The AFL tribunal will sit at 5.30pm on Tuesday night.
