Western Bulldogs veteran Liam Picken has returned to full training this week according to coach Luke Beveridge.

The 31-year-old was helped from the ground during the Dogs’ JLT Community Series clash with Hawthorn in March after an accidental clash with teammate Josh Dunkley and has not played since.

But after two months of close monitory, Picken this week has been re-integrated into the full program and could potentially return to football sometime after the bye in June.

"This is the first week he's back into the full program in all our meetings; full training,” Beveridge told media on Tuesday.

"We believe there's a chance he might play not too long after the bye, so we will wait until we get there.”

Initially, the 198-game veteran was experiencing a range of symptoms from dizzy spells, headaches and was unable to train with footballs, and although the recent signs have been good, Beveridge said his health remains the priority.

"He's still getting some minor headaches and there's still some remnants from the concussion but good signs for him to be able to sit in meetings and be amongst his teammates for the whole program,” Beveridge said.

“It's really positive and when you consider how good he's been for us on-field, and we've missed that, so the allure of him coming back into the 22 is fantastic and whether he can find his best again, that's his next challenge.”
