Ahead of Saturday's 100 game milestone, 25-year-old Jason Johannisen has reflected on a journey from a shy East Fremantle rookie, to leading his football club on the big stage.

“When I first came here (Whitten Oval) I didn't think I could play one game. I didn't really feel like I belonged here because I was such a raw football player,” Johannisen told AFL Media.

“A couple of years into my career, I was really shy and didn’t really say much. I feel like I really speak up (now), help people and encourage people on the training track and speak up in meetings.

“I think on the field, tactically I read the game pretty well, so I can help my teammates with that. In terms of that, I think my leadership has really grown.”

Johannisen credits the support of Rohan Smith to his development on the field.

“A lot of people have supported me, especially Rohan Smith, he's someone who's really helped my development and he was able to get me to the next level.

“To play 100 games for this club is such an amazing thing for me and I just want to pay them back by playing some good footy.”

The Dogs will meet Melbourne for the second time in six weeks. Saturday’s match will mark the Dogs’ first outing at MCG this year, with the team winning its past six games at the venue.

“It will be a lot of the (young guys) first time playing at the MCG, so it’s going to be really exciting.”
