The final five weeks will be about opportunity and building momentum according to Western Bulldogs stand-in captain Lachie Hunter.

Hunter played his 100th game on Sunday in Perth against the Eagles, and took the reins as skipper for the second time in his career in the absence of injured leaders Easton Wood and Marcus Bontempelli.

Speaking to westernbulldogs.com.au after the 54-point loss, the 23-year-old said the Club will be looking to establish some momentum in the back end of the season, starting next Sunday in Ballarat.

“There’s obviously a lot of opportunity for people with the amount of injuries we have, so just to build some momentum,” he said.

“We had a couple of weeks there where we started to go really well, particularly first halves, but just couldn’t see it out.  So, just building that momentum.”

Hunter is averaging 28 disposals and five marks per game in 2018, and added another 28 and five on Sunday.  He also had four tackles and four inside 50s
