Last Saturday, the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation played host to the Ujamaa Community Festival at Victoria University Whitten Oval.

With over 1500 local community members attending the festival - which coincided with the Footscray Bulldogs v Frankston Dolphins VFL game – visitors experienced African food stalls, live music, African drumming and dancing at the VU Whitten Oval precinct.

Western Bulldogs Community Foundation General Manager Kashif Bouns said that the Ujamaa Festival was a great way to encourage cohesion between African communities and the broader VFL community.

“It was great to see so many Western Bulldogs supporters involved in the Ujamaa Festival last Saturday,” said Bouns.

“At the Club, we take immense pride in promoting an inclusive environment whereby diversity is embraced and celebrated, so it’s great to see the local community attend the festival to celebrate African culture and a Footscray Bulldogs win,” he said.

“We’d like to thank everyone who made their way to VU Whitten Oval last Saturday to attend the Ujamaa Festival and show their support for the Foundation’s work in promoting diversity and social inclusion.”
