Jackson Macrae capped off an outstanding 2018 season by finishing with a club-high 14 votes at the Brownlow Medal count last night.

Macrae polled a maximum three votes on three occasions – Round 7 (against Gold Coast), Round 8 (Brisbane) and Round 23 (Richmond) – to eclipse his previous best Brownlow tally of 11 votes in 2015.

He also polled in four other rounds – Round 2 (one vote), Round 4 (one), Round 6 (two) and Round 19 (one).

Macrae averaged 32.8 disposals in 2018 (second in the AFL behind Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell) in a career-best year.

Bulldogs’ leaders Marcus Bontempelli and Lachie Hunter (who was ineligible) both received nine votes each.

Bontempelli finished the home and away season in strong form, earning votes in Round 20, 21, and 22, as well as in Round 6.

Hunter received maximum votes twice, polling three votes in Round 21 and Round 3.
