Team Bulldog members are gearing up for this Sunday’s Melbourne Marathon, as they run to raise funds for the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation.

Running in his first marathon, lifelong Bulldogs supporter Daniel Burn has dedicated the marathon run to his eight-year-old daughter, Holly.

Suffering from a lifelong health issue, Holly has been immobile and in a wheelchair for several months.

Speaking to westernbulldogs.com.au, Burn said that although he has set the challenge for himself, he aims to dedicate the run to Holly and her attitude towards life’s challenges.

“I'm not really sure why, but it has always been my ambition to complete a marathon. It's just been a matter of the right timing in my life to commit the time and effort required. This year was the right time,” Burn told westernbulldogs.com.au

“The main reason was my 8-year-old daughter Holly, who’s had significant surgery for a lifelong issue with her leg in June, following another round of surgery at the same time last year.”

With Holly’s resilience in mind, Burn has reached out to the community to donate to the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation through his personal link – raising over $1000 before the Melbourne Marathon commences.

“The reason I chose the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation to fundraise for is because I’m a lifelong supporter of the club and have a great awareness and appreciation for the Community Foundation and the great work it does,” said Burn.

“On Sunday, when it gets a bit tough I'll think of Holly and I'll do it for her.”

Team Bulldog have registered 128 participants across five events including the 3km, 5km, 10km, half marathon and marathon.
