The switch was flicked on an exciting new era for VU Whitten Oval today.

The Club’s brand-new giant scoreboard was officially turned on, just in time for the Bulldogs’ first AFLW home game for 2019 against Geelong on Saturday night.

The scoreboard was erected piece-by-piece this week by Corporate Initiatives, one of Australia’s longest-serving audio visual integrators.

AFLW: BLAZING A TRAIL FOR THE GIRLS OF TOMORROW

The Club was able to purchase and install the impressive new scoreboard thanks to a grant from the Daniel Andrews Labor Government, which made a commitment last year to improve facilities for women’s football across the state.

The grant was also used to make significant upgrades to the women’s amenities underneath the John Gent Stand, which are nearing completion.

The scoreboard will make its debut for Saturday night’s historic AFLW game, where the Bulldogs will unveil their 2018 premiership flag.

It will be in operation throughout the AFLW season, and in use for VFL and VFLW games held at the venue from this year onwards.

It is the most modern version of what has been, for the most part, a permanent fixture at the Whitten Oval for more than 100 years.
