Western Bulldogs Development Coaches

Peter German



German played 185 games with the North Melbourne Football Club between 1984-1994, where he was renowned for his silky skills on the run.

Since then he has gained a wealth of experience through his coaching career which has taken him across the country.

He coached Burnie in Tasmania and also tasted premiership success in the WAFL with Subiaco.  

German has also been an assistant coach at Hawthorn, West Coast and Fremantle.  He was named the 2009 VFL Coach of the Year after taking the Casey Scorpions to the finals.

In 2010 he joins the Bulldogs as their new development coach and Williamstown coach in the VFL. He boasts extensive coaching experience as proven above but also guided WAFL club Subiaco to the 2004 and 2006 premierships.

Ashley Hansen

 

Former West Coast Premiership Player Ashleigh Hansen was appointed to the Western Bulldogs coaching panel in November 2012. 

Taking on the role of Development Coach for season 2013, Hansen can draw on a wealth of experience having been part of an elite football program at West Coast for a decade, as well as excelling in his role of playing assistant coach for WAFL Club Swans District.

His time in the WAFL saw him predominantly working with a young, emerging forward line group.

Hansen also holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Science.

Chris Maple



Chris Maple coached the North Ballarat Rebels for two years prior to joining the Bulldogs in 2008.

He has also coached at both Tatyoon and Buninyong football clubs, where he had played a major role in the Rebels Development Squads over eight years.

He has worked tirelessly over the last year on the expansion of the Bulldogs development program and was recently promoted to the role of Development Manager/Coach.
