Wallis commits to Dogs

Mitch's Message to the Fans Mitch Wallis has this message to the Western Bulldogs faithful after announcing he has re-signed for another three seasons.
It’s fantastic to be able to re-sign with a club that means so much to me and my family,
Mitch Wallis

In a major boost ahead of the 2019 pre-season, Mitch Wallis has rejected free-agency and committed to the Western Bulldogs for a further three years.

Wallis, who was a restricted free agent, has put pen to paper on a contract extension which will see him remain at VU Whitten Oval until at least the end of the 2021 season.

The 25-year old has played 123 games since he joined the Club as a father-son selection in 2010.

Western Bulldogs General Manager of List and Recruiting, Sam Power, said the Club was thrilled to retain Wallis.

“We’re delighted that Mitch has committed to our Club,” Power said.

“He’s a heart and soul player at the Bulldogs, his work ethic is first rate and his determination to get the best out of himself, as well as to drive the standards of others and the team, is instrumental.

“We are thrilled that he is part of our future.”

Wallis played 18 games this season, spending time in the midfield and up forward.  He averaged 21 disposals and four tackles per match and kicked 20 goals, including bags of three against Hawthorn and Melbourne.

“It’s fantastic to be able to re-sign with a club that means so much to me and my family,” Wallis said.

“There was never any question about my commitment to the Club or my desire to remain here.

“We’re a young side showing some really positive signs, and I’m pleased that I’ll be here to contribute as we move forward.”

Wallis joins Dale Morris, Billy Gowers, Tory Dickson and Lin Jong who have committed to the Club in recent weeks.
