It’s now or never

There are three games to go in this season, and there’s very little margin for error.

Such is life in the AFLW competition, where two losses in a season can leave you hanging by a thread.

As much as it’s probably curtains for our girls if they can’t snare the four points in Perth, a victory would breathe life back into the campaign, especially with North and the Crows facing off, and Melbourne having a tricky trip to take on the Giants.

So, cross your fingers and toes, and cheer loud for a rousing Bulldogs road trip win.

The cavalry has arrived: Part 1

It’s no secret the Dogs have found scoring a little difficult so far this season.

What’s the answer?  Bring back arguably the league’s best small forward, Brooke Lochland.

She’s fast, she’s skilful, and she definitely knows where the big sticks are.  If you think we’re fibbing, you can refresh your memory here.

Lochland is playing her first game back from a fractured fibula, so we can’t expect too much.  We’re just real glad to see her back out there.

The cavalry has arrived: Part 2

Isabel Huntington deserves her own section in this column.  She’s been through enough.

A knee reconstruction ruined her 2018 season, and then she had to go through this in December last year when she was nearing a return to full fitness.

Finally, she’s back, and understandably she says it’s a surreal feeling to be named in the side.

If you’re reading this, football gods, give Izzy a clear run and let her show the world what a talent she is.  If you don’t, the Bulldog army will be coming for you.

Spare a thought for Smith

Belinda Smith would’ve circled Round 5 in the diary when she decided to make the move to the Kennel at the end of last season.

The former Fremantle Docker would’ve relished the opportunity to take on her former team-mates, but sadly, injury has denied her that chance.

Smith ruptured her achilles tendon last weekend and will miss the remainder of the season, robbing her of the chance to make her mark at her new club.

Here’s to a quick recovery and a smooth return as soon as possible.
