A four-goal haul from both Roarke Smith and Ryan Gardner has gifted the Footscray Bulldogs with their first win of the 2019 VFL season.

Defeating Sandringham by 43 points on Friday night at VU Whitten Oval, The Dogs led the Zebras at each quarter break, booting five majors in the final term.

Midfielder Lukas Webb enjoyed an outstanding first game back after being sidelined with a neck injury for the past seven months, collecting 24 disposals and kicking a goal. Fellow midfielder Pat Lipinski continued his impressive VFL form, gathering 26 disposals and laying eight tackles.

Defender Bailey Williams dominated in defence, collecting 19 disposals and seven marks, while Will Hayes looked comfortable in the midfield and forward line, booting one goal and taking six marks.

Emerging midfielder Rhylee West showed impressive signs, laying four tackles and gathering 14 disposals.

The Footscray Bulldogs will take on Collingwood next Friday at Olympic Park at 4:30pm, before the AFL side face Collingwood at the MCG from 7:50pm.
