The Western Bulldogs VFL Women’s side will take on Richmond in an elimination final, this Sunday at Adcon Stadium, Port Melbourne.

Playing their first final since joining the VFLW competition in 2018, the Bulldogs will head to the 2019 finals series with a mix of developing players and AFLW stars.

Similarly, the recently established Tigers will face the Bulldogs with various AFLW-listed players – including former Bulldogs Katie Brennan and Monique Conti – alongside a talented group of young players.

Dominant Western Bulldogs AFLW midfielder Kirsty Lamb said that she is looking forward to the do-or-die clash against the Tigers, this Sunday.

“It’s really exciting to have the opportunity to take part in the VFLW finals series,” Lamb told westernbulldogs.com.au

“Obviously there are a number of us who have been involved in VFL Women’s for quite a long time, so for us to help lead our developing group of players alongside Mickayla (Ward) and the leadership group, has been a really great experience.”

After an impressive run of form in the latter half of the season, the Bulldogs strung together four impressive wins since Round 12 – including an outstanding 43-point victory over the Tigers at Punt Road two weeks ago.

With a number of changes to the side set to face Richmond, Lamb said that the finals series can be a whole different ball game to the home-and-away season.

“The most important thing from our perspective is to keep it simple, play your role and most of all, enjoy the experience,” Lamb said.

“Obviously, the finals can be a lot more high-stakes than the home-and-away season, so we just need to focus on the task ahead and really make sure we start with winning that first quarter of footy, this Sunday.”
