Western Bulldogs defender Lauren Spark has polled the maximum ten votes in the AFLW Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award for Round 1.

Spark enjoyed an outstanding performance against Adelaide, breaking the AFLW record for number of marks per game – taking 11 marks in the Bulldogs’ one-point victory over the Crows.

Co-captain Ellie Blackburn (17 disposals, six marks) received seven votes, while Hannah Scott (19 disposals, five marks) received three.

Every round, the AFL coaches vote for the best players from their game. The coaches vote for five players, giving them a mark from 1-5. 

The maximum a player can score is 10 (with five votes from both coaches).
