Western Bulldogs young gun Bailey Smith has accepted the ‘Big Freeze’ challenge and will plunge into icy waters for a fantastic cause.

The annual Big Freeze event, now in its sixth year, raises much-needed funds and awareness to fight Motor Neurone Disease.

Normally set to take place before the annual clash between Collingwood and Melbourne at the MCG, event organisers have been forced to improvise amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

A special TV event will be broadcast live on Channel Seven on the Queen's Birthday holiday on Monday, June 8 – three days before the 2020 season is due to recommence.

All 18 AFL clubs will have one player representative slide into the ice bath as part of the telecast.

Smith’s outfit will be revealed during the Channel 7 program.

Luke Beveridge (2018), Bob Murphy (2019) and Liam Picken (2019) have previously taken part in the Big Freeze challenge.
