The clock is ticking down towards the conclusion of the 2020 AFL Trade Period.

The deadline for all trades is today at 7.30pm AEDT, with the AFL confirming no trades can go through until after 3pm AEDT.

It allows clubs time to discuss deals before submitting their deals through the Online Trade System to be processed from the ARC.

For the Bulldogs, there are still a few things to play out.

Two trades have already been done.

Crafty forward Mitch Hannan has been secured from Melbourne, in exchange for a future third round pick.

That deal was finalised on Tuesday morning, allowing the 26-year-old forward to return to the Kennel on a two-year deal.

VU Whitten Oval should feel like home for Hannan, who featured in Footscray’s 2016 VFL premiership win before being drafted by the Dees.

On the same day, the Bulldogs also welcomed Stefan Martin.

The experienced ruckman fills a need identified by list boss Sam Power at the start of the trade period, becoming a Bulldog in a three-way trade with the Brisbane Lions and North Melbourne.

Martin believes he and Tim English can flourish in the same side, and is excited by the challenge of helping develop English and Jordon Sweet after eight years with the Lions.

That trade also saw emerging defender Lachie Young make his way to the Kangaroos. Good luck, Lachie!

Two possible trade moves remain up in the air.

Star midfielder Josh Dunkley is exploring a trade to Essendon.

Throughout the trade period, the Bulldogs have expressed their desire to keep the 23-year-old, who is contracted until the end of 2022.

Media reports are suggesting the Bombers would need to offer two first round picks for the Bulldogs to consider any trade.

What happens here remains to be seen over the course of the day.

The Bulldogs have also been linked to Collingwood midfielder Adam Treloar.

Treloar has met with the club in recent days, however the Bulldogs haven’t spoken publicly about their level of interest in the 27-year-old.

Media reports suggest trades for Dunkley and Treloar aren’t linked – and the Bulldogs could potentially fit both inside their 2021 salary cap, if they wish to.

But a trade would need to be facilitated with the Pies – if both Treloar and the Bulldogs are interested – as the midfielder has five years remaining on his current contract.

It’s another one to keep an eye on over the course of the day.

And finally, could the Bulldogs orchestrate a pick swap today?

They currently hold pick 14 in this year’s draft, but will need to accumulate enough points to match a big on Next Generation Academy prospect Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

An early bid is expected on Ugle-Hagan, with the Bulldogs exploring ways to gain more points to match a bid when it comes.

If that selection stays in the Bulldogs’ keeping by tonight’s deadline, they’ll still have time to orchestrate a swap of picks with another club, during a designated period between the end of the Trade Period and the 2020 NAB AFL Draft in December.
