Defender Hayden Crozier could miss up to two months of football, due to the shoulder injury he sustained during Monday’s win against Melbourne at Marvel Stadium.

The 27-year-old suffered an AC joint injury in the third quarter of the game and had surgery the following day.

“The surgery went well and we’ll concrete his timeframe for return in the next couple of days,” head of medical services, Chris Bell, said.

“But expect Hayden to miss the next six to eight weeks of footy.”

The news is better for experienced defender Easton Wood, who is closing in on his return from a hamstring injury and could be in consideration to play Collingwood on Friday night.

“Easton’s had a fantastic block of training following his hamstring strain,” Bell said.

“He’s ticked off full speed and will re-integrate back into full training this week. I’ll work with match committee over the next seven days to determine his availability for the round one clash.”

Bell said he expected Laitham Vandermeer (hip) and Aaron Naughton (arm) to be fit for round one after their injuries against the Dees.

“We didn’t want to take any risks with Laitham, so we pulled him out of the game,” Bell said.

“He’ll come back into full training over the next couple of days and put his hand up for selection in round one.

“Aaron sustained a heavy hit to his forearm from an opposition knee.

“We took him out of the game and sent him for scans, which have cleared any bone damage.”
