Taken with the Bulldogs' first pick in the 2015 NAB AFL Rookie Draft (11 overall), Lynch is a raw rebounding defender from Swan Districts (WA) who is a good decision-maker and possesses excellent foot skills on both sides of the body.

At the state draft combine, Lynch tested in the elite category for both speed and agility.

Season By Season

Season in short

A member of Footscray’s 2016 VFL premiership team, Lynch was hampered by injury this season, playing 11 State League games after registering 22 last season.

The 20-year-old West Australian continued to show promising signs when fit, with his quickness and ability to use both sides of his body a feature.

Lynch arrived at the Club via pick 11 in the 2015 NAB AFL Rookie Draft and averaged 14 disposals, four marks and two tackles a game in 2017.

Stat that mattered:

Lynch signed a contract extension in September. He will remain at the kennel until at least the end of 2018.

What they said:

“It’s been a bit of an injury riddled year. I wasn’t expecting it because of the pre-season I had I thought was pretty good and I was really going in hungry.

“The injuries kind of dented my confidence in a way (but) it’s been a learning curve to put it that way.

“It puts a bit of fire in your belly, I’m raring to go already. I’m trying to comeback as good as I can, physically and mentally.”

- Brad Lynch, September 2017

Season By Season

Season in short

Averaged 18 disposals and four marks across 22 games for Footscray this season, and was a member of the Club’s 2016 premiership side.

Quick, agile, and lethal on both sides of the body, Lynch showed rapid improvement as the season went on.

Deceptively tall, yet still slight, will benefit from another preseason in the gym and on the track.

What they said

“It’s been a big season for me, especially for a first year.  It’s been a real rollercoaster the more I think about it.  I was a little inconsistent at first but when the second half of the season come around I kicked into gear and every game I felt better and more comfortable.

“From round one there were quite a few areas I had to improve on and now it’s come down to about three areas specially.  But still I’m putting work into every area because you always want to get the best out of yourself as every player does.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back bigger and better.”
