It’s more than just a football match so make sure you check out the fan zone featuring loads of activations and activities to entertain the whole family: 

- Kid’s Zone featuring a specky pit, Nintendo games, Pancake Parlour ball pit competition, face painting and plenty of inflatable fun where you can test your football skills
- Appearances by The Pack Mascots and Caesar the Bulldog
- Beer tastings by Two Birds Brewing

There are a wide range of food and beverage options available for purchase at Victoria University Whitten Oval including:

- Cape Grim Burger Bar, Conway Fish & Chips, Gourmet Pies and Ice-cream
- Food trucks including Gobbles Grill, Opa Greek Food, Dinkum Donuts, Routley’s Pies and Hot Dogs
- Two Birds Brewery Bar 


We recommend taking Public Transport to all AFLW games at the VU Whitten Oval due to limited parking.


VU Whitten Oval is a short stroll from West Footscray station - on the Sunbury/Watergardens line.

Note that due to Metro Tunnel Project works, buses will replace trains on Sunday 17 March:

    • Sunbury Line: Buses replacing trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations. Find out more

By tram from the city, catch the #57 West Maribyrnong service.

The #57 links at Maribyrnong Road with the #82, which passes within a one-kilometre walk of the ground.


Routes: 410; Sunshine – Footscray, 411; Laverton Railway Station - Altona Meadows – Altona – Footscray (via Millers Road), 412; Laverton - Altona Meadows – Altona – Footscray (via Mills Street), 414; Laverton - Footscray 472 - Williamstown - Moonee Ponds via Footscray. Stops a street away from the ground on Geelong Road. 220 - Sunshine - Gardenvale via City & Footscray. Stops outside the ground in Barkly Street. 219 - Sunshine West - Gardenvale via City & Footscray. Stops around the corner from the ground on Barkly Street. 216 - Caroline Springs - Brighton Beach via City & Footscray.

Bus stops are located around the corner from the ground on Barkly Street.

Car Parking

Limited street parking is available in the surrounding areas and check signs for relevant restrictions.

There are also numerous car park options in the area including:

Western Health Footscray Hospital, 150 Gordon Street, Footscray (1.1km away).  $11 weekend all day parking. 
Footscray Plaza, 18 Albert Street, Footscray (1.3km away). $8 daily maximum.  
Victoria University Footscray Campus, 7 Tiernan St, Footscray (1.6km away).  Free weekend parking.  

Walk to Whitten Oval and Support Vic Health’s This Girl Can Campaign

We’re getting behind Vic Health’s “This Girl Can Victoria” campaign by encouraging everyone to walk to the footy and we would love for you to join us. Bring your kids, parents, siblings, friends and walking buddies with you!

Vic Health’s This Girl Can campaign celebrates and supports Victorian women embracing physical activity in a way that suits them. Whether it’s a little or a lot, what matters is getting some movement into your day.

The walk will depart from Footscray Train Station and will be led by participants of the Daughters of the West women’s health program.  Participants will receive complimentary fresh fruit and drinks upon arrival to VU Whitten Oval.  

Round 7: Western Bulldogs vs Carlton

When: Sunday the 17th of March 2019
Time:  We will be leaving from the front entrance of VU Whitten Oval at 2.45pm to walk a couple of times around the outside of Whitten Oval to then enter in plenty of time for the 4.05pm game.
Location: Meet at the main entrance to Barkers Café  Whitten Oval from 2.30pm and walk around the outside of VU Whitten Oval, keep a look out for the ‘This Girl Can signs’
What to bring: Water bottle, Daughters of the West T-Shirt and comfortable walking shoes
Walk: All levels of walkers welcome, we will walk for approx. 30mins before the game.
Return trip: Walkers to make their own way home from the ground after the game. West Footscray station is next to the oval.

How much do tickets cost?
Nothing, entry is FREE!

How do I guarantee good seats?
Get there early. Gates will open 90 minutes before first bounce.

Disabled Access
Yes- both entry points are disabled access. You are also able to drop of disabled guests to the front of the building and then go and find parking.


Entrances to the Victoria University Whitten Oval will be located at:

- Cross Street
- Corner of Barkly Street and Whitten Avenue
- AFLW members gain VIP entry via the main entry glass doors

Baby Change Facilities
Baby change facilities and a parent’s room are located in Barkers café.

Lost Children
Lost children will be taken to the reception, in the main building at the Victoria University Whitten Oval. An announcement will also be made by the MC when appropriate.

Food Options
A wide range of food and beverage options are available for purchase.  Food is permitted to be brought into the venue however large eskies, hampers, chairs and stools, glass and alcohol are not permitted. All bags will also be searched upon arrival. All alcohol must be purchased inside the venue.

There are several ATMS located inside the ground. There is an ATM inside Barkers Café and two ATMs within the Fan Zone.

First Aid
First aid is located at the Cross Street end of the ground. If you need help you can also speak to the Western Bulldogs staff and volunteers around the ground. Fans are reminded to stay cool and wear sun protection at day games.

Lost Property
For lost property please check at the reception located in Barkers Café. Any phone enquiries should be directed to the Western Bulldogs Reception (1800-GO DOGS).

AFLW Memberships start from just $25.  Visit the membership team located at the reception desk inside Barkers Café.

The Bulldogs shop will be open for the duration of the game and can be accessed through Barkers Café.

Pass outs
Patrons who wish to leave and return to the Victoria University Whitten Oval can gain a pass out stamp at the exit and return the same day.

AFLW Records
There will be AFLW records available at the gates and sold by record staff.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Victoria University Whitten Oval. If you wish to smoke, we ask that you get a pass out and leave the venue please.


Complimentary sunscreen is available within the fan zone, at reception and throughout the precinct.

Water Stations
There is a water station provided by City West Water located in the fan zone where you can fill your water bottles and get a drink.

Safety and Security
In 2019 there will be a focus again on security measures to promote a safe and secure environment for all of our patrons. We encourage all patrons to report anything suspicious that they see and wish to remind them that they play a vital role in the security and safety of the AFLW games at the Victoria University Whitten Oval. 

In preparation we encourage guests to arrive early to avoid delays accessing the venue, pack light if possible and read the prohibited items list below.

Prohibited Items:

- Alcohol (unless purchased at the venue)
- Chairs and Stools
- Eskies and hampers
- Animals (other than assistance animals)
- Drones, flares, fireworks, laser pointers
- Any other dangerous item, weapon or any “prohibited item” under the Major Sporting Events Act 2009 (Vic).
