Bulldogs’ winger Sam Davidson has been rewarded for his stellar start to a career at the Kennel, extending his contract until the end of the 2028 season.
The 23-year-old still had a year remaining on his current deal, however has pushed that out a further two seasons, remaining at his boyhood club into the future.
The medical student has been a revelation for the red, white and blue in 2025, playing 16 games so far in his debut season while averaging 16 touches and four marks.
Drafted at Pick 51 in the 2024 National Draft, Davidson came to the Club as a medium forward before using his attributes to move into the midfield at AFL level.
Davidson was pleased to remain at the Club he grew up barracking for.
“The last 12 months have been a bit of a whirlwind, from playing VFL footy at Richmond to getting drafted, playing some AFL and now signing a two-year contract extension,” he said.
“It’s something I never really thought would happen or believed it could happen, but here we are. I’m loving every minute of it.
“It’s been really cool transitioning from a fan to one of the players. It’s really special.
“To think once upon a time that was me out there (in the crowd) and now I’m on the other side of the fence. I love playing for them.”
Executive Manger – Men’s Football, Sam Power was thrilled to secure Davidson for a further two years.
“Sam has excelled since arriving at the Club in November last year, missing just one game due to sickness in the AFL team,” Power said.
“Having previously only spent one year within a VFL program, he has adapted to the level strongly. His ability to cover the ground and play an important role on the wing has really added to our side.
“He has quickly become a popular and valued member of the locker room and at only 23 years of age, has plenty of growth left in him particularly given his unconventional pathway to the top level.”
