Kate Tyndall kicked two goals, as the Western Bulldogs’ scored a 10-point victory over Collingwood in a twilight NAB AFL Women’s practice match at the Holden Centre on Thursday.

In a physical and entertaining encounter, the Bulldogs were the first to hit the scoreboard via a Kirsten McLeod snap.

Showing a touch of class to finish a slingshot counter-attack from half-back, McLeod earned a slice of history as the first to goal in the red, white and blue in the AFLW era.

With both teams taking time to blow-out the cobwebs, it was congested around the stoppages early with neither side able to find fluency in their ball movement.

Only an additional behind a piece would be added for the opening term, ensuring the Bulldogs would take a six point lead into the first change.

It was Tyndall that got the Bulldogs off to a dream start in the second term, slotting a set-shot from directly after front, after being infringed in the marking contest.

Collingwood then kicked the next two goals of the game through Christina Bernardi and marquee-signing Emma King, before Emma Kearney responded for the Bulldogs.

With the incoming Ellie Blackburn kick carrying the pack at the top of the goal square, it was Kearney that was the first to recover, gathering the ball at speed and running into the open goal.

With the Magpies adding just a further rushed behind for the term, the Bulldogs margin remained a solitary goal at the main break.

Both sides would only add a further goal each for the second half - the Bulldogs through a Tyndall set shot and the Magpies through Mo Hope.

With coaches agreeing to a 10-minute final term, both sides shuffled the magnets, testing combinations ahead of their respective NAB AFLW round one matches next weekend.

The Western Bulldogs will face Fremantle next Saturday night (4 February 2017) at Victoria University Whitten Oval. Entry is free.
