It’s business as usual at the Kennel this week according to Matthew Boyd, despite the Club readying itself to face Hawthorn in a cut-throat Semi-Final on Friday night at the MCG.

The Bulldogs powered their way to the second week of September with an enthralling, against-the-odds, victory over the West Coast Eagles in Perth, but for Boyd, there’s no time to celebrate; it’s time to focus on the Hawks.

“We’ll go through the exact same process we’ve been going through the whole year, nothing really changes for us,” Boyd told gathered media at Victoria University Whitten Oval on Monday.

“We’ll review the game really thoroughly, and make sure we get the little things right that we didn’t do on the weekend.

“Nothing really changes for us, it’s just about trying to replicate the energy and excitement levels we had on Thursday night.”

Hawthorn went down by two-points in a thriller to Geelong on Friday night in what was a brutal physical contest and Boyd said he expects it to be no different this coming Friday.

“I think in a final, that’s how they’re played, you’ve got two combative sides going at it," he said.

“It was a great game of footy to watch, really exciting and really physical.

“So I don’t think anything will be different leading into another final this week.”

Whatever the nature of the game, Boyd said the Bulldogs will go into the game knowing that at their best, they can match it with any side in the competition.

“It’s a big part of the success of the group so far this year, and last year, is the belief we have in ourselves and each other, and the spirit we play with.

“We really play for each other and want to do the right thing by our teammates and that’s something that has held us in good stead so far.”
