What an eventful final minute and half it was for Bailey Dale last night.

With a 1:25 left on the clock and the Dogs leading by just three points, Dale found himself with the ball 55 metres out from the Bulldogs goal.

He could have bombed it long toward the square in hope, but instead looked in-board, calmly hit-up a leading Marcus Bontempelli who marked and put through what was to be the sealer.

With 21 seconds to go Dale again found himself with ball in hands and as he lined up for goal with the Dogs leading, the siren sounded and a wry smile appeared on his face as the Dogs earned their fifth win of the season.

“It was a good moment, a still-smiling Dale told westernbulldogs.com.au after the match.

“Obviously the siren went so there was a little bit less pressure on.

“It was good that the boys played well and the boys got the win.”

Dale’s after-the-siren goal extended the difference to 15-points, the margin probably not doing the thrilling final term justice.

Amongst the mayhem, Dale said he was just focused on keeping his cool and doing what the team needed him to do.

“Staying calm was probably the main thing, we didn’t want to butcher the ball too much in those situations.

“I think we did it really well and we kept our composure which was good. “

Which would have been difficult – the 27,000 plus fans in attendance sounding more like the 47,000 of the previous week.

“It was very loud here tonight, Adelaide had a few people fly over, so it was good to play in front of the big crowds [but] even better to get the win.”
