A 10 day trip to the Sunshine Coast will provide the ideal preparation for the Western Bulldogs’ 2018 season campaign according to Physical Performance Manager Mathew Inness.

The Bulldogs flew north on Wednesday and will train in Mooloolaba and Maroochydore before returning on Friday week.

In addition to skills, weights and beach sessions – the camp also provides an opportunity for the playing group to bond.

“The heat is a little bit of a factor but it’s really just to get the guys up here (and to) get to know the rest of the group a bit more,” Inness told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“We’re getting three main training sessions in, and a couple of smaller sessions and we’re getting some high volume training in which is good.”

The Mooloolaba trip follows on from a three day training camp in Torquay in December.

“Torquay was more about the training we were doing there in terms of the fitness and conditioning. This one is more about the football. There is a lot of match simulation.

“They’re going pretty well. We’ve obviously had a couple of extra weeks training for pre-season which has allowed us to get a bit more training.
